Battle Report: Agent7249 vs. Shonukem
China vs. China

Agents View:
As soon as we had started the game I quickly established my power, radar, and built a second bulldozer.
Knowing the layout of most of the map I had four choices available to me on how to manage my economy, 1. Manage my economy without the aid of tech buildings, 2. Manage my economy with the assistance of oil derricks, which would have short-term effects, 3. Manage my economy with the assistance of refineries, which would be effective in long-term effects only or 4. Which would involve taking both refineries and all oil derricks leaving me vulnerable to attack at the start of the game.
I chose two, which unknowingly to me proved to be help later on in the game. As I decided to wait until I could get a troop crawler to get around the map quickly with the troops, I used my mig to scout Shonukems base, I caught a glimpse of his buildings and one of his battle masters. In the spur of the moment I attacked his battle master, only later in the game he would find out that I am very effective in using MIGs.
My troop crawler then got produced and so I decided to take my chance and get all the oil derricks. Quickly pummelling through the terrain around it my troop crawler made its way towards the first lot of derricks. I ordered it to release only three of its red guards so they could take over the derricks, as it did I then ordered it to go to the other lot of derricks. When it arrived I ordered it to deploy yet another three of its occupants to take over the derricks.
Now with a significant boost to my economy I began to produce MIGs and battle masters. Trundling down my production line came many MIGs and a fair complement of battle masters. Minutes passed and I began to feel the waring off of the short-term effects of the oil derricks. My extra funds were exhausting and I was forced to put production of my battle masters on hold. Making a bold move I decided to produce 3 overlords, I knew that Shonukem could strike at any time and put my economy in disarray. As soon as they were produced I sighed with relief, as I knew that this would relief some pressure that my ground forces would entail.
As my MIGs were on patrol I noticed that they saw some (well a lot) of enemy battle masters making a journey towards a weak spot in my base, I quickly moved my own ground forces to the weak spot to combat the enemy. As this was going on I noticed some enemy infantry trying to take over one of the areas where I had my oil derricks, I also moved some MIGs to quickly move over and bomb them, fortunately for me I had little Anti Air defences to worry about so it was easy to take them out. As this was also going on our ground forces were in fully combat mode and destroying each other. Luckily I had bunkers with rocket troops in them to tip the battle in my direction. When the battle ended I decided to build a base where my other oil derricks were (the ones that shonukem didn't attack or attempt to). I sent a small tank force of 3 battle masters and 1 overlord. Accompanying them was a bulldozer, which would create the small base.
(Minutes Later) My base has been produced at the site of the derricks, I've also lost my derricks at the top of the map and tanks have continuously been bombarding my forces at my main base, Thankfully my superior air power had kept Shonukems air forces from bombarding my base. Unfortunately I couldn't stop the bombardment from his long-range artillery, all I could do was suppress his nuclear capabilities and use my own on him. I used any means available to me to, this included air bombardments, small ground attack forces, which attacked by surprise from the sides of his base (weak, if any defence) and nukes.
With constant attacks that were gradually weakening my defences I decided to take another bold move, this was to use nuke cannons as a defence, this was a very dangerous move as I knew I would be killing my own forces in the upcoming conflicts. I produced 2 nuke cannons and a lot of anti air defences such as gattling cannons to protect them. As the next two waves of enemy forces came, I successfully repelled them with my own tank forces and the nuke cannons. After about two nuke attacks on Shonukems main base, I decided to bombard and nuke his oil derricks, the ones that he had previously taken from me.
When I had destroyed them I knew I had taken a vital part out of his economy, even though he had refineries to make his tanks cheaper he wouldn't be able to run long with the resources he had, right at the moment I destroyed the derricks he had 0 funds because he had queued up a row of battle masters, luckily if my derricks were destroyed I had 10-15k as a back up plan which I had built up by storing the funds from the derricks I had. Due to unforeseen circumstances Shonukem had to quit the battle, Mutually we had agreed to end the battle, as we waited a couple of minutes he had launched one big all out strike on me, with my defences already worn I had to divert some defences away from my resource production facilities towards my main base, luckily they arrived in time for the battle, tanks were being blown up infantry were being burned planes were being shot down. My MIGs efficiently destroyed any inbound forces which Shonukem had sent trough the air, my ground forces were taking a pounding and were about to submit, I moved my nuke cannons from the other side of the base and with 2 nuke shots I wiped out all including my own tank forces.
The battle ended mutually but I knew I had achieved a victory in all but 2 battles; those were when I lost fighters to his anti air defences, which he erected around his Oil derricks.

Shonukems View:
I started in the lower left corner of the map and quickly went to get my power, barracks, radar and supply depot up. While doing this my goal was to take the oil refs to aid me in cheaper tanks early on as well as secure the supply dock that was next to each of them to further aid my economy.
As I got my first battle master out Agent came in with a mig scouting and attacked it. At this point of the game I honestly didn’t think he would have his migs ready but oh well, I fixed the problem by ordering a couple gattling tanks.
At this point I set my waypoint to the hill with the temple, the supply dock, and refinery from my barracks and trained a few tank hunters and a redguard to take it. By the time i began taking the refinery I noticed out of the lower corner of my field of vision a troop crawler. I figured agent was attempting to secure the thing as well and laughed half expecting it to come up the hill and be chewed up by the tank hunters in the bunker. However to my dismay it drove right by and took me a moment to realise he was probably headed for the derricks.
By now I had only a power plant, barracks, war factory, 2 supply depots running and several supply trucks working. I realized if I was to have any chance in this game I needed to secure at least 1/2 the oil derricks. I set the waypoint from the barracks to the closer set of derricks and ordered a similar number of infantry as I did for the refineries. However by the time they arrived I was too late and agent had the position garrisoned. I was upset but quickly knew the solution to clear his bunkers.
I ordered a flame tank and started training another Red Guard and send em up to the northern derricks. The flame tank cleared out the bunkers as expected and then moved up to kill his troop crawler. As soon as the troop crawler was on its last sliver of health agent’s migs swooped in and took out the flame tank and crawler together just as some redguard entered the area.
Around now the infantry I had set to get to the other derricks arrived to their destination, and to my shock, he had these too. I regret not going for em sooner as I figured it being my second game against him (and how badly I slaughtered him in the previous game) I honestly did not expect him to be that aggressive so early in the game. Around this point is when I decided I had to show no mercy.
I eventually took the derricks in the north but gave up on those to the south as I had achieved my main goal and began building up my assault forces. Around now I decided to start getting my own migs and to start attacking especially as I suddenly heard the infamous warning that agent had just built a nuke silo. Not to be outdone I quickly build one myself but for one reason, to get the nuclear tank, and uranium shell upgrades.
As I built my nuke it apparently scared agent enough to lure some of his tanks in to attack my base, as just a few moments before I had sent out a force of tanks that were about 1/2 way to his base. I quickly called em back and thankfully they got home just in time to start reducing agents tanks to scrap.
Once that was done I began a campaign of constant strikes with my battle masters at his base and slowly began wearing down his defences. Around now I ordered some hackers to aid in my income however, just as the first one came out I heard the dreaded "Nuclear launch detected". Next thing I know my barracks, 2 power plants, and a war factory lay in pieces and the cash spent on those hackers was lost forever. This was a severe hit to my economy.
I continued the campaign of strikes with tanks, and at one point did a blitzkrieg move which essentially meant I broke the defences at one point and just ran through the opening with however much I could. As a result I had 5 battle masters move around the base doing damage and killing one power plant and war factory before finally being stopped. This bought me some time as it disabled his nuke but I knew it wouldn’t be long. Now that I had his base properly scouted I targeted his airstrip my tanks had run by with an artillery barrage and killed it.
Again, the strikes continued, and eventually agent began launching air strikes on my derricks and producing nuke cannons. At this point I began realizing the nuclear tank upgrade in this particular battle was not a great idea as when one of my tanks blew up, it did damage to my other tanks close to it. Slowly agent began getting the upper hand but I wasn’t out of it yet. I still had 3 supply docks under my control that still had $15,000 in supplies at each. I slowly began trying to build one massive tank and mig force that I knew agent couldn’t fight off just as he killed my derricks. I didn’t let it bother me, however before I could build the force I desired I was forced to leave for reasons beyond my control. I then asked agent to call it a draw for now. He agreed and allowed me to try and break him once more. I tried but in the end the attack failed cause of his nuke cannons and the damage caused by my own exploding tanks.
In all, the game had no real end in sight. For that matter, out of dozens of games of TS, ra2, and Generals we have played, only two have actually ended as most ended very similar to how this one did. But it was fun none the less and allowed us to truly test our map to its fullest.
